Fair Trade - People Traditions & Culture
The Maasai culture is the most well-known Kenyan tribes outside Kenya especially for tourists.
To sustain the way of life of the Maasai, generations of Maasai women have continued the tradition of beadwork. This beadwork is not just beautifull, but also a reflection of gentleness and patience. A true celebration of the culture.
A wide range of Maasai beaded items are available; Belts, Beaded Walking Stick, Beaded Sandals, Maasai Attire, Wall Hangings, Earings, Wedding Necklaces... and so much more!
Most Maasai families in the Kimuka region spend countless hours producing and selling their beads to fund their children through school as well as fighting poverty. If you feel that you could work with us to make life a little easier for the Maasai, and have a business idea please feel free to contact me direct on pariken@meackenya.org
"MEAC is so proud to be a community based project. Our greatest asset is definitely knowing the people we are helping, and a passion that comes naturally from knowing we are helping our friends, neighbours, families and tribe."
