MEAC announces orphanage program to commence within two months. (27/08/2010)

MEAC is excited to announce that we will be launching an orphanage volunteer program within two months. Placements will be in Nairobi, where volunteers can do the most good. We will be releasing details within the next few days, and information will be available in the volunteer program list information section of our website. We anticipate placing volunteers in the Orphanage program within two months.

MEAC announces launch of MEAC Pre-School, commencing January, 2009.

MEAC is proud to announce that our new community centre, built by volunteers and local community members is complete. Currently the centre is being used for community health seminars, as well a venue for extra-curricular activities for local school children. Tutorial classes are also being held for older students, taught by volunteers.

In January 2009, enrolment will commence for pre-school children, with programs being run by locals, teachers and volunteers to better prepare children for commencing primary school education. Further tutorial classes will continue to operate, giving local students the best education possible.

MEAC is working with volunteers to plan a series of community seminars, aiming to spread knowledge and education to local community members, based around our core objectives. In particular, we are focusing on education, AIDS/HIV and gender equality.

Pictures of the new community centre will be available soon, as will more information on what events are planned for 2009.

"MEAC is so proud to be a community based project. Our greatest asset is definitely knowing the people we are helping, and a passion that comes naturally from knowing we are helping our friends, neighbours, families and tribe."
